New category, thinking of blogging in english

March 20th, 2005

I added a new category today, GNU/Linux. There I’ll post stuff related to OSS and GNU/Linux, Gentoo especially. I’m doing some thinking whether to blog in english or not. The reason is simple: english-speaking blog visitors. Most serbian-speaking people can understand English very well and therefore there shouldn’t be any problems. The only problem is my grammar, but this blogging in english can only help. So, see you soon with some new posts.

Yeah, but this is becoming the problem (which I am quilty of even more than you are—I blame “popularity-chasing” there :): “Serbian blogosphere” will become only about those private-I-ate-this-I-saw-this-my-girlfriend-sucks-blogs, which are somewhat boring IMHO. :)

Of course, as always, I’m looking forward to your posts, no matter the language (some of the sucking up your ass :).

As I see it, my blog, and blogs in general, serve two purposes: as a personal reminder in form of a journal and as a place where you can share you experiences and opinions with others. Everybody benefits.

I’m wondering whether I should enter my “Serbian experiences” in serbian language (for example, I went to a good concert of a Serbian band and I don’t want to explain to the global, english speaking population who the band is, etc, or in other words, posts that only the serbian speaking people benefit from), or should I keep the blog more or less uniform using english for all posts.

    Any opinions?
